The past few weeks have been fun doing our 20 time project. We finally got to run our own practice and it was a success. Or practice did drills and things from the websites we have cited. Also in class we have been starting to get information for our final project. Harris and I have been coming up with different ideas to do for our final project as in what to say during the presentation. As a group we feel like this project has been very successful to the middle school hockey team. Last week was the hockey banquet and we got to see all of the kids for dinner that night. A few days after that the middle school team had their first playoff game and won. Harris and I are very excited for their next game we do not know who they play but we are sure it will be a good matchup. As project comes to an end I know I am very proud of the team for giving harris and I a wonderful year and I wish the best of them luck during the high school team next year. As they move up a level even without a 20 t...

Week 6 out here

The past few weeks have been busy with the team. We have won a few games and lost some. Most important has happened has been the All-Star game. This is where select group of kids from all of the teams get to compete in one game on 2 Teams. It was a fun experience for the kids who made it. In addition excuse kids extra motivation to practice so one day they can make it to the team. Other things that happened in class was our mid year review. We realized we did not change much from her start to our finish product. In addition we have come in contact with on mentor and he has helped us plan practice. Secondly we created a video of a drill and demonstrated it for the class. The class was very enthusiastic about video. The class seeing the kids on the ice for the first time was very cool for me and my partner Harris to see. Lastly we are starting our research paper. This consists of a written bibliography. In the weeks to come we will be coming up on our last middle school practice which Ha...

Week 5 :)

The past few weeks have been a little off because of Christmas break. We haven’t been able todo much but what we have got finished has been good. After getting in contact with our mentor we went to a few practices with him and he showed us some of techniques and skills to teach with the kids. With kids who need help with shooting gave us 4 good shooting drills. With kids who needed help with skating he gave us two good skating drills we could do with them. Kids who couldn’t stick handle he gave us good stickhandling methods and ways to critique their stickhandling techniques. All and all we are working up to running our own practice. Next week I will not be able to make practice because of a conflict with the game that I have but I will still be able to keep in touch with the coaches and make sure everything will be running smoothly. Also Harris Brotman and I Will be choosing two or three kids to follow and track their progress. With these two were three kids we can see how her coachin...

Week 4

This week we started writing a letter to our mentor Jay Von czoernig. As the head coach of the team he would help us create practice plans, help the players learn, and with his high coaching degree help us become better at coaching evedently helping the kids become better. Our letter to him is not finished but is been edited by Dr swinehart. This week along with writing our letter we got assigned follow someone else’s blog. In the project we’ve worked on a little bit of research on how young middle schoolers learn and progress. We have found that most kids are visual learners and demonstrating all of the trails with you first to the kids helped them tremendously. A normal practice consists of 45 minutes of skating drills to help the kids. The last 30 minutes of practice we usually spend on small games that put them in game like situations or shooting drills. We are going to try and keep that format file creating our practice but change the drills. Lastly along with the middle school te...

Blog post 3

The past few weeks have been hard. First of all we got our blog approved and needed to start working on the next steps. The next few steps we’ve come up with are doing research on how kids learn and actually getting on the ice with the kids and start practicing. Many of the kids barely know how to skate but some are already at a relatively advanced level. Finding out how these two groups of kids learn and each making them better as individuals and as a team can benefit the game. Secondly we also have found a mentor my father Jay Von czoernig. He would be a good mentor because he it was first of all my father and second for the head coach of the team. What we’ve done so far is had practice layouts drawn up and showed our mentor them for approval. We are working towards running our first on ice practice but for now we are just helping out. Our practices consist of power skating a System of drills helping kids get better at skating, And shooting the puck. Lastly thought of ideas to do a s...

Week 2 breakdown!!

The past few weeks have been rough with this project. Going through getting a 11 out of 24 on our proposal was a highlight. After fixing the things that were wrong we added a bit more to it to insure we would be set for the upcoming pitch.  Harris and I feel like our project of coaching and helping kids get better is a very meaningful project. On top of that we would be giving a small piece back to the radnor hockey organization and radnor townships. Radnor hockey means a lot to me personally with starting the elementary school team from me and my dads bare hands. I’ve been playing ever since then and would be an honor to coach kids for harris and I.  Finalizing our proposal really helped us realize our goal with this project and set goals for every month. I’m very excited to get on the ice again! Now we are working on our pitch and making sure we get our radnor coaching idea passed. Next week will be a big week because of the middle school's first few games. Hopefully the tea...
Me and my partner Harris Brotman came up with an idea to coach the Radnor middle school hockey.  Talking to Dr. Swinehart she said we needed more .  My partner and I were thinking about ways we could  impact people by this project.  An idea we came up with was  to go over the games and TV videos for people.   Dr. Swinehart like this idea would be a tough one but it would work  something we would go over certain place face-offs.  Would post these videos  monthly  around three videos of month.  Now we are working on  our proposal.  Our proposal will contain what we have to do and what we will do we will present it in front of a board of teachers.  Like shark tank  without the investments.  The middle school’s first practice was first of October.  I worked with the goaltender on random stuff that he will work on in his next game. The hardest part about this project is creating and editing the videos. This ...
